Ken & Nicole
Despite the trials and tribulations of the pandemic and unpredictable weather on their wedding day, the stars and sun eventually aligned, allowing Nicole and Ken to begin their lives together in the most beautiful way.
While Nicole and Ken are quintessential university sweethearts, their love story transcended academia in the most romantic way possible.
After dropping Nicole off at the airport in Toronto for her annual trip back home to South Africa, Nicole had no idea that Ken had been planning a grand gesture in his pursuit of love.
Ken followed Nicole to South Africa and in a in a rose-filled garden, with proposal broken down into nine love letters, Ken waited on bended knee, asking Nicole to be his wife in 2019.
What followed was a tumultuous but exciting time as the couple planned their wedding amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.
Nicole explained that they had to postpone their wedding twice because of the pandemic and when the day finally arrived, the weather became unpredictable.
“The sun would shine and moments later rain would fall. This wasn’t great because we had planned a beautiful outdoor ceremony that almost didn’t happen,” Nicole said.
“But when the moment finally came, the rain stopped, and the clouds made way for the sun as we shared our vows. We felt the warm unexplainable energy shine on us. It was a beautiful blessing from the heavens.”
The couple chose Cavalli Estate in Somerset West as their venue because of sunken garden, surrounding water, architectural elegance, and excellent service.
They were also blown away by the reception area, Cloud Nine, on the evening of their wedding.
“We looked at each other like; is this really our wedding?”
“Thousands of balloons suspended, dressed in beautiful lights and floral perfection. It looked and felt like we were in a dream.”
